After PUBG Mobile and several Chinese applications were banned in India due to privacy and security concerns, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) is making a comeback.
While the government did not give a reason for the ban, it was reportedly banned because of security concerns in August 2022.
It will be the first app to return to the market after being banned by the government, according to Krafton, the developer of BGMI.
Thanks to the Indian authorities, BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI) has been able to resume operations. In the last few months, Krafton India has received a lot of support and patience from the Indian gaming community,” said Sean Hyunil Sohn, chief executive officer.
The Battlegrounds Mobile India app will be available soon
BGMI will soon be available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Krafton did not reveal a date, but the company expects it to happen soon.
In a statement to Business Insider India, Sohn said, “We have received permission to restart operations of BGMI, and we have begun the process of bringing the game back.”.
A cumulative user base of 100 million
The game reached 100 million cumulative users a year in India after its launch, according to Krafton.
In addition to being the first e-sports event to be broadcast on mainstream television, BGMI reached 24 million concurrent viewers and 200 million total viewers.
It is with great appreciation that we thank the authorities for allowing us to restart BATTLEGROUNDS MOBILE INDIA (BGMI). KRAFTON, Inc. is a responsible South Korean organization that abides by the law. Several measures have been taken to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations, said Vibhor Kukreti, head of government affairs for Krafton India.
