Maha Mumbai Metro Operation Corporation Ltd (MMMOCL) took action and clarified that grab handles inside metro traines are only meant to support standing passengers. Not for hanging or performing stunts. The operator said that this kind of behavior can endanger the person. It also pose risks to other commuters, especially during sudden stops or if the crowd shifts.

In a post on X, MMMOCL warned commuters against copying what it called “movie-style stunts” in metro traines. It emphasizing that public transportation is a shared space that must adhere to safety rules. The operator noted that misusing fittings and actions that create disturbances are punishable offenses.
MMMOCL said the fine issued under the Metro Railways (Operations and Maintenance) Act, 2002. It allows penalties for passengers who cause inconvenience, disturbance, or potential damage to metro property. Depending on the seriousness of the offense, penalties can vary from fines to imprisonment.
The metro operator urged commuters, including public figures, to set a good example and follow rules that ensure safe and smooth travel. They highlighted that following safety guidelines is essential as metro ridership continues to grow across Mumbai’s expanding network.
