Vadodara Eatery Owners Arrested for Selling Samosas Containing Beef

Cow is the holy animal for Hindus due to which it is forbidden for the Hindus to eat beef. This is why no one could sell beef in any form in India without letting the people know that the food contains beef. An incident happened in India in which the owners of a Samosa shop were arrested as the police found them selling Samosas containing beef without letting their customers know that the Samosa contains cow meat.

Due to this incident the police decided to conduct a raid on Hussaini Samosas center in the Panigate area of Vandora in which they found out that there was 113 KG meat stored in the shop. The police immediately seized the meat and it was sent to the lab to find out which animal meat was it? Later after testing it, It was confirmed that it was cow meat. 

As it was confirmed that the shop owners were selling Samosas containing beef, the police arrested the owners of the shop who were Yusuf Sheikh and Naeem Sheikh along with their four workers. The police asked the owners from where they used to get the meat so the owners told that a person named Imran Qureshi used to supply them cow meat. Therefore the police also arrested Imran Qureshi. 

What Did The Authorities Have To Say?

Panna Momaya, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Vadodara, said, “We got information that some people were selling samosas from a house using cow meat. We conducted raids and seized 61 kg of prepared samosas, 113 kg of beef, and 152 kg of samosa material. We sent the material to the forensic lab which confirmed it was cow meat.”

Momaya mentioned that the shop owners lacked licenses from both the municipal corporation and the food safety department. “They were selling these samosas across the city without mentioning to their customers,” the DCP said.

How Long Are They Penalized For Selling Samosas Containing Beef?

The state government amended the Gujarat Animal Preservation Act in 2017. The new act includes a life term and a penalty of Rs 1 to 5 lakh for cow slaughter. This strict law aims to protect cows and ensure severe punishment for violations. The owners of the eatery face these harsh penalties for selling samosas containing beef.
