The proposed law approved by the Union Cabinet will impose a ban on all online real-money gaming services, where users can play games after depositing money as a stake or bet. According to reports, this step is due to increasing concerns about alleged money laundering cases.
The news agency said that the 13-page bill prepared by the Central Electronics and Information Technology describes an online money game, played by a user, which accumulates money in the hope of winning financial and other promotion. Electronics and Information Technology Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has been scheduled to transfer the bill to the Lok Sabha.
Online game’s addictive nature
While New Bill Introduce in Parliament, ministry said, “Emergent and addictive nature of online game especially with monetary incentives has led to critical mental health issues among users – especially to children, adolescents and young adults,” the ministry said in the proposed law.
