In a recent event at Supertech Eco Village 2, around 200 residents fell ill reportedly due to contaminated water. The residents, including children, experienced vomiting and diarrhoea, pointing a finger of suspicion at the quality of water being supplied within the complex.
Worst affected were four towersC-4, C-5, C-6 and C-7that house over 160 flats each. Residents suspect that it is improper cleaning of the water tanks which was completed over three days ago-which led to this contamination. Several residents rushed their children to hospitals, including one child who needed ICU treatment with seizures.
Maintenance of the society also took samples for testing and inspected the water tanks. They assured that they would look into the issue and take action against those who are responsible. The contamination of water, as confirmed by Bisrakh police station, was due to the cleaning agent used.
Questions raised at Supertech Eco Village 2 despite company’s decades old legacy
Greater Noida Authority is overseeing the situation and ensuring the safety of the residents. Supertech Limited, builder of Supertech Eco Village 2, has a good history of quality projects like Emerald Court and commercial projects such as Pentagon Mall. But this contaminated water incident may corrode it all.
The company was founded in 1988. It is one of the premiere real estate developers of residential and commercial complexes in Delhi, NCR, and other cities. The company has received initial recognition for architectural marvels. It includes a high-class residential project- the Emerald Court, housing 7-star living facilities. Supertech has also explored areas in commercial development through projects such as a 7,00,000 square feet commercial hub at 34 Pavilion, Sector-34 NOIDA.
Apart from that, the company has diversified business interests into hospitality and healthcare. Supertech has already tied up with international hotel chains that are going to develop a 5-star hotel in Rudrapur, Haridwar, Meerut, and NOIDA. It is also joining hands with one of the leading healthcare providers in opening medical facilities at various projects. But the recent incident at Supertech Eco Village 2 raises a lot of questions.
It accentuates the fact that maintenance and all safety concerns ought to be followed in a residential complex. For this reason, authorities will continue to concern the matter so as not to have similar incidents in the future.
