Prateek Gupta and Neha Maheshwari, a couple from Bengaluru, have started the second chapter of their life in Luxembourg. Relocating to the small country from a bustling hub, the couple made up their minds with a view to a better quality of life. The family had initially planned to move either to the US or Dubai for better pay, but finally settled on Luxembourg. Prateek works as a senior analyst at Amazon while Neha is a finance manager at a German real estate firm.
One of the major reasons for this couple from Bengaluru to choose moving to Luxembourg had to do with the country having a lower tax rate of 28%, compared to the slightly higher rate in India. However, even after taxes were deducted, they thought the services made it well worth it.
One of the biggest advantages they have gained is government-backed health insurance. With their obligatory payment of 3% of their incomes, fully free health care-except dental-care-is provided. What’s more, in Luxembourg, there is an unemployment fund to catch them, supplying 80% of the last salary for up to two years in case of loss of their job.
Besides this, there are several other financial benefits and lifestyles in Luxembourg that are much better. The couple from Bengaluru owns a Mercedes Benz A-class, which they claim to have bought at a price of €43,000. They further said that their car would have been much more expensive in India, and Prateek would never buy a priced-over-₹50 lakh luxury car in his country.
What are the other benefits couple from Bengaluru enjoys at Luxembourg?
Holidays in Europe are another perk of living in Luxembourg. The earning and spending in the same currency, the couple enjoys cheap and affordable travels within the continent. Besides, proximity to other European countries allows for easy road trips.
It really shows that their decision emphasizes the quality of life over and above mere money matters. All three factors, namely healthcare, lower taxation, and ease of living, combined have been instrumental in Europe and contributed to their satisfaction with the move.
Their story brings forth the fact that smaller countries, in this case Luxembourg, can indeed offer convincing advantages which often outweigh the attractions of higher salaries accorded in other larger economies.
