SC stops UP order for shop name display

The Kanwar Yatra is a festival which originates from Kumbhanagari Haridwar is a beacon of Hindu-Muslim unity. On this festival the Uttar Pradesh government has ordered all the shop owners to display their name plates outside their shop during this festival. However, the supreme court was not happy with this matter and announced his sayings on July 22. Meanwhile, the top court has issued the notice to all the states where this festival of Hindu-Muslim unity takes place.

“Until the returnable date, having regard to the … discussion, we deem it appropriate to pass interim order prohibiting the enforcement of the above directives. In other words, the food sellers, hawkers etc may be required to display the kind of food they are serving to Kanwariyas but they must be not be forced to disclose the names,” the Court ordered.

Every year during the month of Sawan, millions of Shiva devotees travel to Haridwar to gather the holy waters of the Ganga. The special Kanwars that these devotees carry are carefully made by Muslim families in the Haridwar area. These families spend many months making them with love and dedication.

This action by the UP government came into place after the many incident happened in which Muslim vendors spitting in the food items in order to destroy the Hindu religion.

The UP government’s order drew a lot of attention from political leaders and opposition parties, who accused the Yogi government of having a “divisive agenda.”

Earlier, Muzaffarnagar Police said they asked eateries to “voluntarily display” the names of their owners and staff. They added that this order is not meant to cause “religious discrimination” but to help the devotees.

The Reaction Of AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi

AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi expressed his concern over the rising tension and animosity faced by Indian Muslims, particularly on the Kanwar routes in UP. He blamed political parties and leaders for this hatred. “Fear on UP’s Kanwar routes: This is the reality of hatred for Indian Muslims, credit for this visceral hatred goes to political parties, leaders of Hindutva and so-called lip servicing Secular parties,” he stated.

Why It is Important To Display The Names Of The Shop Owners?

It is important to display the names of the shop owners as the communities participating in the festival have completely different views and ideology. One community has different views on eating something while the other has different views. For example a vegetarian Hindu cannot eat cow and chicken meat therefore when the names will be written he would avoid Muslim stalls because he knows that it is permissible for Muslims to eat the meat of Cow and chicken.

On the other hand, Muslims don’t eat pork and do not drink alcohol so when the stall owner’s name is written he will avoid the Hindu stalls as there might be a threat that the person might be giving pork or alcoholic drink. Therefore by presenting the owners name outside their shops or stalls it will be helpful for both communities to enjoy the festival while keeping their religious duties intacted.

Another important reason to display shop name is because of many incident caught in which muslim vendors spitting in the food in order to destroy the Hindu religion. What is the ideology behind this? What this community wants to prove? And, how this is acceptable? Very shameful act!!!
