This year, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has jumped significantly in the global wealth ranking by overtaking world-class billionaires such as Bernard Arnault, Jensen Huang, Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos. Bloomberg Billionaires Index reports that Zuckerberg is now the third richest in the world in terms of net worth, and he has $184 billion to show for it.
Zuckerberg has earned a jaw-dropping $55.6 billion financial fortune this year that propels him ahead of French luxury tycoon Bernard Arnault. His earnings plummetted by $24.5 billion, leaving his worth at $183 billion Thanks to these losses, Arnault has slipped from third overall and is now fourth after a great fall. Meanwhile, growth like Zuckerberg’s is also a reflection of Meta’s winning position in the market, along with the broader tech bubble that has and continues to lift all boats for Silicon Valley leadership.
While Zuckerberg surpasses world-class billionaires this year, Musk is still the richest in the world
While still the richest in the world with a $251 billion net worth, X chairman Musk pocketed an extra $21.6 billion this year. As a result, his net worth rose by $7.69 billion alone. He continues to top the list of the world’s richest people. Jeff is in second place after $24 billion more earnings last month totalling $242.6 billion.
Just below Musk and Bezos is Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison, who has added $34.2 billion to his fortune this year. The demand for cloud computing services has boosted Ellison, who is now the highest-paid CEO of 2024.
While other billionaires are getting richer, for Arnault and Chinese businessman Zhong Shanshan, fortunes have notably plummeted. The richest man in Asia last year, Shanshan lost $21.9 billion to fall back down on the list with a total net worth of only $45.8 billion.
Gautam Adani and Mukesh Ambani are still the richest in India. Adani’s wealth increased by $16.9 billion and Ambani has earned $16.3 billion in the year to date. It makes them 14th and 11th wealthiest globally respectively as well
