As a result of the Indian Premier League (IPL) mini-auction for 2024, some outrageous and some expected purchases were made, with Australian players Mitchell Starc and Pat Cummins receiving some big bucks. After making his return to the IPL after eight years, Mitchell Starc was acquired by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for ₹24.75 crore, making him one of the most expensive players in IPL history. It was last Starc played in the IPL in 2015 that he made a comeback to play for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). In 2018, KKR purchased him for ₹9.4 crore, but he had an injury and backed out.
Pat Cummins
The World Cup-winning captain was in high demand at the IPL auction as expected. After being purchased by KKR for ₹7.25 crore in 2022 and then released, he was sold by Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for ₹50 crore.
In 2023, Sam Curran, an all-rounder from England, was sold to Punjab Kings for ₹18.5 crore. The southpaw has played 46 matches in IPL history, scoring 613 runs and taking 42 wickets.

A huge bid was received for England all-rounder Ben Stokes during the 2023 auction. As a result of a knee injury, Stokes played only two matches with CSK. Due to workload management, he has been unavailable for IPL 2024, as the World Cup takes place just after the IPL.

Chris Morris was sold to Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2021 for ₹16.25 crore, proving that international fast bowlers have always been in demand in the IPL. After failing to stand out during the 2021 edition, the bowling all-rounder has not played in the tournament since.
