Ninth-generation Toyota Camry launched in India: Check out prices

The ninth-generation Toyota Camry has officially entered the country with an ex-showroom price tag of Rs 48 lakh. The model, which was globally launched more than a year ago, still pitches the petrol-hybrid powertrain as a major USP. Camry gets a new, fifth-generation hybrid engine making 230hp and with an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of 25.49km/l. The car is scheduled to hit dealerships now.

The latest model comes with a premium of Rs 1.83 lakh more than its predecessor, which was at Rs 46.17 lakh. But the new Camry still is Rs 6 lakh cheaper than its closest rival, the Skoda Superb. The new Camry is positioned as a more affordable alternative to luxury sedans like the Audi A4, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, and BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine, priced way above.

Exterior and Design Updates

The new Camry is built on the TNGA-K platform, with Toyota’s trademark “hammerhead” styling. The front gets a sharp nose, slim LED headlamps, and an almost Lexus-like anvil shape on the bumpers. The new design also comes with a sleek character line, redesigned 18-inch alloys, and eye-catching C-shaped LED tail lamps.

Interior Features

Inside, the Camry impresses with a neat dashboard sporting dual 12.3-inch displays for a digital instrument cluster and one that serves as an infotainment system. The Camry supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in addition to its nine-speaker JBL sound system. For comfort, rear seats now sport a reclining function. Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 suite with features like autonomous driving assistance features is also part of the deal.

Powertrain and Warranty of Ninth-generation Toyota Camry

The Camry’s 2.5-litre petrol engine mated to Toyota’s fifth-gen hybrid system now churns out 230hp, which is much better than the previous one. The eCVT gearbox goes well with the hybrid setup, ensuring a smooth and efficient drive. The battery pack gets an 8-year/1.6 lakh km warranty from Toyota, which should put the mind of the buyer at ease.
