India has made a big move to help the Marshall Islands. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar signed an MoU to fund four community development projects. This is a huge step forward for the relationship between India and the Marshall Islands.
India Marshall Islands Celebrating Together
Jaishankar began his speech with a friendly “Namaskar from Bharat.” He praised the Marshall Islands for their recent achievements. They hosted the 10th Micronesian Games. He also thanked President Hilda Hain for supporting the International Day of Yoga celebrations in Majuro. It’s great to see countries coming together for events like this.
Building on Friendship
Jaishankar talked about the long friendship between India and the Marshall Islands. He mentioned how their ties have grown over the years. This has happened especially through the Forum of India Pacific Islands Cooperation (FIPIC). He recalled Prime Minister Modi’s promise to help the Pacific islands during the third FIPIC summit. He said these islands are not small but large ocean countries. India feels it’s their duty to support them in their journey towards sustainable development.
The minister highlighted the common challenges faced by Pacific island nations. These include climate change, natural disasters, poverty, and healthcare issues. He assured everyone that India is committed to partnering with the Pacific islands to tackle these problems. He was happy to see the progress made towards fulfilling the promises from the FIPIC summit.

Details of the MoU India Marshall Islands
The MoU signed will help start four community development projects in the Marshall Islands. Jaishankar mentioned they are also working on proposals for desalination units and dialysis machines for the islands. He believes these projects will provide better infrastructure. They will improve the quality of life for the people there.
Focus Areas for Cooperation
Jaishankar outlined India’s main priorities in working with Pacific island nations. These include healthcare, infrastructure development, renewable energy, and capacity building. He stressed the importance of affordable medicines, wellness centers, education, and developing small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Clean water facilities and renewable energy are also key focus areas.
In his closing remarks, Jaishankar reaffirmed India’s commitment to deepening its partnership with Indo-Pacific nations. He emphasized that India is always ready to do more with its partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
