Suriya's 'Karuppu' Crosses 300 Crore Worldwide Milestone

RJ Balaji’s film Karuppu, starring Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, has become one of the highest-grossing Tamil movies, surpassing the ₹300 crore mark worldwide. The filmmaker and actor recently shared that Aamir Khan was among the many celebrities who contacted the film’s team to congratulate them on their success.

‘Karuppu’ film cross 300 crore worldwide

Aamir Khan texted Suriya about Karuppu’s success. Balaji discussed the film’s achievement on Cinema Vikatan’s YouTube channel and mentioned that Aamir and Silambarasan TR were among those who reached out. “After the release of Karuppu, Aamir Khan texted Suriya sir, who forwarded the message to me. Silambarasan TR also called to wish me. Many prominent directors reached out to,” said Balaji.

He believes Karuppu succeeded despite mixed reviews and criticism on social media. He admitted that the first half of the film played a crucial role. “I communicated the film well. Otherwise, I couldn’t have faced the criticism from today’s social media. People trust me, so I need to tell the truth. We presented a good story in the first half. That’s why, even though there wasn’t much story in the second half, audiences still enjoyed it,” he said.

Congratulate entire team

Recently, Balaji also informed THR India that Rajinikanth praised Karuppu. He said, “Whenever a good film comes out, Rajinikanth watches it and personally congratulates the team either in person or over the phone. He called to congratulate me. In his signature style, he said, ‘Balaji, super…super…super, you have achieved it. What a huge hit! We will meet again soon.”

Karuppu has grossed ₹300 crore worldwide since its release on May 15. In 15 days, the film has surpassed the lifetime collection of Vijay and RashmikaMandanna’s hit Varisu from 2023. Balaji announced this milestone on Friday, writing, “#Karuppu 300* not out @Suriya_offl.”
