Eternal CEO Deepinder Goyal announced that the company and Blinkit set a record for delivery volumes on Wednesday, processing over 7.5 million orders. It marked an all-time high, even as calls for strikes circulated among delivery partners in recent days.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, Goyal said that the company’s food and quick commerce platforms helped deliver to more than 6.3 million customers through 450,000 delivery partners.
“Support from local law enforcement helped keep the few troublemakers in check,” Goyal noted. He mentioned that while New Year’s Eve usually comes with higher incentives, Wednesday’s operations followed normal incentive structures like previous years.
CEO Appreciate Delivery Partners
Goyal expressed his appreciation for delivery partners “who showed up despite intimidation, stood their ground, and chose honest work and progress.” He also thanked local authorities for their “clear enforcement and swift coordination.”
In a broader defense of the gig economy, Goyal argued that “if a system were fundamentally unfair, it would not consistently attract and retain so many people who choose to work within it.” He urged stakeholders not to get “swept up by narratives pushed by vested interests.”
Notifications from workers’ apps reviewed by FE indicated that Blinkit offered payouts of Rs 120-150 per order between 6 pm and midnight on New Year’s Eve, with total earnings potentially reaching up to Rs 3,000 depending on order volumes.
