In a bold theft at Kalyan Jewellers showroom in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, a group of women allegedly stole gold ornaments worth around Rs 14 lakh in just 14 minutes. The incident took place at a Kalyan Jewellers showroom and fully recorded on CCTV.
Two women stole 14 lakh jewelry from Kalyan Jewellers
The women entered the showroom pretending to be customers interested in buying jewellery. While a salesman was occupied showing them various pieces and not at the counter, one of the women quietly took a display pad containing gold earrings from the glass showcase.
She then handed the pad to another woman next to her, who hid the jewellery inside her shawl. The group quickly left the showroom without attracting any suspicion.
Police hunting for women
The theft discovered later when Kalyan Jewellers showroom staff reviewed the CCTV footage and checked the inventory, revealing that the jewellery was missing. Soon after, the showroom manager filed an FIR at the Civil Lines police station against four unidentified women.
Police have started a search operation and are reviewing CCTV footage from the showroom as well as cameras on nearby roads to trace the suspects’ route before and after the theft. Ram AashrayYadav, the in-charge at Civil Lines police station, said that teams are actively working to caught the women involved in the crime. He mentioned that multiple CCTV feeds examined to follow their movements.
