A shocking incident bas brought out clear evidence of corruption in the IAS Sanjeev Hans’ ED raid. Hans is an IAS officer from Bihar, and the accusations against him include amassing disproportionate wealth by unfair means. A high-scale raid was done by Enforcement Directorate (ED), where cash worth millions, gold, silver, and jewelry were found from his residence. According to allegations, he used to demand rebates in the form of luxury cars for favors. The scandal has left a bad smell on the IAS and has led to the suspicion that the administration of Bihar is corrupt.
He hails from Punjab and holds engineering degrees in the bachelor’s course and has cleared the UPSC exams. Hans cleared the UPSC exams and had started his career as an IAS officer with his first posting being SDM in Banka district, Bihar. He gradually scaled up to various important posts like Collector in numerous districts of Bihar. Hans rose to the levels of Secretary and CMD in Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited. Additionally, Hans served as the Principal Secretary of the Water Resources Department, Bihar.
Accusations of holding disproportionate assets far exceeding known sources of income led to IAS Sanjeev Hans’ ED raid. His house was raided, after which cash amounting to Rs 87 lakh was recovered. The investigators also found gold biscuits worth Rs 1.5 crore. The silver worth Rs 11 lakh was also found during the raid. Jewelry worth a few crores was found during IAS Sanjeev Hans’ ED raid. Such findings only make his legal troubles more complex.
Hans was greatly influenced by his father, who was a PCS officer. As he grew older, Hans wanted to be just like his father, hence, he joined as a career IAS. The taint of corruption brought early success in Hans’s otherwise plush career. He fell under corrupt practices after getting lured by the money. He misused all-powerful positions to the fullest. The IAS Sanjeev Hans’ ED raid also included his close associates since ED suspected further involvement in the schemes. Bihar’s SVU has filed an FIR against Hans on the recommendation of ED.
Who else is involved in IAS Sanjeev Hans’ ED raid case?
Former MLA of Jhanjharpur Gulab Yadav is also accused in the case along with Hans. It is alleged that Hans had accepted a Mercedes car as a bribe during the Smart Meter Installation Campaign in Bihar. The incident had occurred when Hans was holding the post of chairman of Bihar State Power Holding Company Limited. Scam reportedly has raised the suspicion that corruption is widespread in Bihar administrative services.
Along with IAS Sanjeev Hans’ ED raid financial allegations, he is also charged with gang rape. A woman has filed a complaint against Hans and former MLA Gulab Yadav for gang rape. The High Court rejected his petition. She has now approached the Supreme Court for getting justice.
