The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) launched an online remote invigilation examination, called Proctored Assessment, for school counselling and wellness teachers, specifically socio-emotional counsellors. This initiative is part of its effort to build capacity and ensure quality.
CBSE roll out AI-Powered Assessment
The Board announced that the assessment conducted in phases to evaluate and certify nearly 10,000 counsellors working in CBSE-affiliated schools. The first phase started in February 2026.
According to CBSE, the assessment aims to go beyond traditional testing formats. It focuses on counsellors’ practical skills, understanding of ethics, and their ability to meet students’ socio-emotional needs.
Certify 10,000 counsellors
The examination takes place on an AI-powered digital platform, DIGI-EXAM, to guarantee a secure, standardized, and transparent evaluation process. The Board also mentioned that this initiative helps educators get used to technology-driven assessment systems.
CBSE said that the program supports broader goals of maintaining integrity and consistency in evaluation. It also promotes remote access for participants and embraces digital practices that align with national priorities as well as global standards.
CBSE emphasized that this initiative is crucial for improving mental health and well-being support systems in schools by enhancing the skills of counsellors.
