DU Objects Rahul Gandhi unexpected visit to campus

Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Thursday made an sudden visit to DU, to which the university has strongly objected. The college’s Proctor, Professor Rajni Abbi, in a declaration, said that this was the second time that the Congress chief arrived without prior notice to the authorities.

In an official press release from the proctor’s office, the university condemned the visit and highlighted a sequence of incidents that occurs during his live.

“Today Rahul Gandhi got here to University of Delhi without any information to the government. He stayed in the DUSU Office for almost one hour. During this time, the DUSU cordoned by  safety cover. He has executed this for the 2nd time for coming to the University without any intimation and information to University,” the release stated.

The university alleged that several students locked in the DUSU Secretary’s room and “misbehaved with” by participants of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress party. The DUSU Secretary herself barred from entering her office at during visit, the release said.

“The University condemns such action and hopes that this doesn’t occur in future. Strict action taken against students who involved in this,” the release said.

DUSU President defends Congress Leader

Rahul Gandhi during his visit, interacted with students from SC, ST and Other Backward categories at the Delhi University’s North Campus, that specialize in problems of illustration, equality and educational justice, news agency said.

Delhi University Students’ Union (DUSU) president Ronak Khatri, aligned with the Congress’s NSUI, hit again, pronouncing there was no rule that required the students body to searching for permission to host a ” guest”.
