Jharkhand School principal Sends Girls Back Homes Without Shirts for Writing on Them

News of a private school principal in Jharkhand is facing backlash after allegedly instructing 80 Class 10 girls to remove their shirts as punishment has sent ripples of outrage across the state. The incident has taken place in a prestigious school in the Digwadih area on Friday.

The controversy started with the students celebrating their “Pen Day.” They then wrote messages on each other’s shirts after their examination. The principal said he did not condone the girls’ behavior and instructed them to remove their shirts despite their apologies. The students were eventually sent home wearing only their blazers.

The parents of the girls had filed formal complaints with Dhanbad Deputy Commissioner Madhvi Mishra, saying the punishment was humiliating them and making the girls go home without proper attire.

Deputy Commissioner Mishra confirmed the complaints and expressed concern over the incident. “The administration has taken this matter seriously. A committee has been formed to investigate,” she stated. The inquiry panel comprises the sub-divisional magistrate, district education officer, district social welfare officer, and sub-divisional police officer. The administration has assured action based on the findings of the investigation.

Jharia MLA Ragini Singh accompanied the parents in filing the complaint. Describing the incident as “shameful and unfortunate,” she asked the authorities to bring the principal to book.
