PM Modi addressed National Awardee Teachers in New Delhi on Thursday. He praised their role in nation-building and stressed how important educators are in shaping India’s future. He called teachers a powerful force in nation-building. He said honoring them is not just a formality. It recognizes their lifelong dedication and service to society. He congratulated the awardees, pointing out that millions of teachers across India show commitment, sincerity, and a spirit of service.
PM Modi Urges Teachers to boost self reliance drive
He highlighted India’s respected Guru-Shishya tradition. PM Modi said, “Teachers like you are living embodiments of this heritage. You are not only teaching literacy but also embed the values of serving the country in the younger generation.” He noted that teachers are the foundation of a strong country and an empowered society. They also need to adapt to changing educational needs and curricular reforms.
New Tax Slabs effective from 22 September
He discussed the latest phase of GST reforms, describing it as a historic step in India’s economic transformation. Some have named it “GST 2.0.” This reform simplifies the tax system with mainly two rates: 5% and 18%, effective from September 22. PM Modi said these changes will reduce the burden on households, farmers, youth, and middle-class families by reduce costs for essential goods, vehicles, appliances, and healthcare.
“Before 2014, basic goods and services had taxes range from 17% to 28%. Today, items like cement, ACs, TVs, and tractors are taxed at 18%, 5%, or even 0%, making it easier for households and farmers,” he said. He emphasized the government’s commitment to improving affordability, increasing savings, and supporting economic growth.
