Victim was beaten by stick in Telangana hostel room
The victim, a 10th-grade student from Chada village, has been attending the Rajapeta residential school since 5th grade. He targeted because he is the school’s Vice-Captain. Sources say the senior students could not accept that a junior held such a position.
About 20 senior students forced their way into the victim’s room, armed with bats and sticks. They began to insult and beat him. When a friend tried to record the assault on a cell phone, the attackers turned off the lights and continued their violence.
5 more students beaten brutally
Five other 10th-grade students, who tried to protect the victim also brutally beaten. Two of them suffered serious injuries and taken to a hospital in Bhuvanagiri for treatment. The others received first aid at the Gurukulam’s on-site dispensary.
The incident became public on Tuesday when the victim’s parents, Lavanya and Sudarshan, saw the troubling videos of the assault online and rushed to the school. They confronted Principal Sudhakar and the teaching staff, expressing their anger over the administration’s failure to stop the attack and its attempt to cover it up for four days.
“They tried to kill my only son,” Lavanya said, showing the bruises on his back and chest. The family protested outside the college for over two hours, demanding strict action against the Principal, teachers, and all involved students. They also pointed out significant negligence in supervision, claiming that a lack of control by the staff has led students to misuse banned substances like gutka, alcohol, and cigarettes. The parents have requested their son’s Transfer Certificate.
