A teacher at Maharshi Sandipani Ved Vidya Pratishthan in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh booked on Sunday for allegedly beating a student. A video of the incident went viral on social media, according to a police official.
Case registered against teacher for beating student in Ujjain Institute
The police registered a case against Datt Das Shevde under sections 115 and 296 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), based on the student’s complaint, Chintaman police station house officer HemrajYadav told PTI.
In the video, the teacher seen hitting the student with a cane, ignoring the student’s pleas for mercy. A source said that the 51-second clip filmed in the facility’s hostel. The teacher used corporal punishment because the student had slept on another person’s bed.

It has about 450 institutes across India where students spend seven years studying the Vedas along with subjects like Sanskrit, English, Math, and Social Science. Attempts to obtain a statement from the school management were unsuccessful.
