Two CBSE Class 10 board exams Held from 2026, Feb exam Mandatory, May exam Optional

The CBSE Class 10 board exams will conducts two times in single academic year from 2026.  The change aims to reduce the exam stress, and provide students with a opportunity to enhance their overall performance without ready for a whole year.

Under this new scheme, each student should appear in the first exam, scheduled for mid-February, while the ones seeking to enhance their scores can appear in the 2nd exam scheduled in May.

The decision follows the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which referred to as for flexible and student friendly exams.

Key highlights of Class 10 board exams 2026

CBSE 10th exams going to held twice a year starting 2026, with the first exam in February and 2nd exams in May. The first exam is important, the second one is optional.

Results for the first exam declared in April, even as the second exam results declared in June, giving students a chance to enhance their scores. Internal evaluation conducts only once during the academic year, relevant to both examination phases.

New CBSE exam settings reduce students stress

In a press conducts on June 25, 2025, CBSE stated that the coverage permits clear candidates, compartment cases, and other students, and people acting for improvement to sit down in the first CBSE Class 10 board exams.

The second exam open to those from the improvement category, first/third chance compartment cases, and students combining compartment and improvement subjects. Special provisions given to unique categories. Sportspersons whose activities conflict with exams, and CWSN candidates allowed to take the second exam as their main option if needed. Internal tests conducted as soon as possible, before first board exam.
