A UPSC candidate has been barred from all recruitment tests for three years after caught with unfair means. The action, taken under Rule 12(1)(h) for using unfair means, highlights UPSC’s continued focus on retaining its exam process easy and merit-based.
UPSC published about the decision on its official LinkedIn page. It said that the candidate had violated Rule 12(1)(h), which offers with possession or use of unfair means during tests. Her candidature for this year exam has cancelled.
UPSC barred candidates from recruitment test over unfair test method
Speaking to PTI, UPSC Chairman Ajay Kumar said the Commission has always worked to keep high requirements in its selection process. “Any candidate found guilty of misconduct or use of unfair means during tests is treated strictly, which includes cancellation of candidature and debarment,” Kumar said.
He brought that such steps are important to maintain fairness in recruitment. According to him, the UPSC recognition as a obvious and merit-based system is built on strict enforcement of rules, where heritage or affect performs no role in selection.
The official post noted that this action aligns with the usual results listed by Commission. “The person has been debarred for a duration of three years from all tests conducts by UPSC,” the statement read. This isn’t the first time UPSC has taken robust disciplinary steps.
No tolerance to tests transparency
The Commission says it has no tolerance for any behaviour that undermines the fairness of tests. It considers such cases due to their effect on other deserving candidates.
The UPSC conducts especially competitive tests for recruitment to civil services and different key authorities roles. Every year, lakhs of aspirants seem with the desire of securing one of the limited posts. The Commission said that only merit need to come in results.
