Crime Beat Review: Fast-paced narrative
This drama series follows the Abhishek Sinha (Saqib Saleem), rookie journalist belongs to Varanasi, to make name for himself in media world of delhi. Sinha assigned to the leading crime beat publication, and handle the case of Binny Chaudhary. It senses the potential career, focuses on the story, and hopes for a coveted front-page byline.
In this parallel story, Chaudhary navigates the complexities of his life. Once hidden in Afghanistan, he returns to delhi to fulfills political ambitions. Binny decides to surrender and start afresh. He strikes a scheme with politicians to expose the 2010 Commonwealth Games scam.
Drama Show focuses on sensationalism
Even the ‘Crime Beat’ has a fast-paced narrative, as per Crime Beat Review, but it also seems dead in some parts. Due to unrealistic truths, it focus on sensationalism instead of dig deeper to extract authenticity. The Abhishek Sinha’s relationship with his mentor Amir Akhtar (Danish Hussain) seems forced and makes its unbelievable plot part.
The Saqib Saleem dives deep into drama performance. He channeling the understanding of Delhi underbelly in character. Being journalist is more nuanced being Delhi boy. It makes the portrayal a little lackluster. Unlike most real-life journalists, Saleem’s Sinha is ready to trade everyone and everything to get a page-1 byline. The lies, the wrong and right of the situation, do not matter to him. His haughty nature fails to make small-town credibility and pushes him off to the edge.
