Dhadak 2, a film on caste-based discrimination and violence, launched in theatres today on 1 August, 2025. The reality that the Triptii Dimri film hit the screen days after the alleged honour killing of a 23-year-old Dalit techie from Chennai, who targeted for inter-caste relationship with a girl.
Bankrolled by a mainstream banner Dharma Productions and featuring growing stars Siddhant Chaturvedi and Triptii Dimri, this film also gain from the courageous path by Shazia Iqbal — recognised for her short Bebaak, which wondered patriarchy.
About Triptii Dimri’s film
Dhadak 2 is unsettling and doesn’t pull any punches. In the first half, the viewer is type of led into believing that whatever violence they see proven both in the background and is internalised. The time period Dalit used in entire film. The makers aren’t afraid to call a spade; however, the ending feels sudden.
The country is Madhya Pradesh, and the town wherein the action is based is Bhopal. The Dhadak 2 opens with a shot of the grand Raja Bhoj Statue at the Upper Lake (Bada Talaab). Raja Bhoj was warrior and a fan of the humanities and subculture. The film’s main message is: “Ladne aur marne mein se agar kuch chunna ho, toh ladna”.
