Residents said students fought back against the attackers, but the concert called off at the direction of local authorities. More than 25 people injured in the incident.
Author Taslima Nasreen spoke out about the situation and criticized the troubling trend in Bangladesh. In a post on X, she stated, “The cultural center Chhayanaut burned to ashes. Udichi, the organization created to promote a secular and progressive mindset through music, theater, dance, recitation, and folk culture, also burned to ashes. Today, jihadists stopped the renowned singer James from performing at an event.”
