The Malayalam superhero movie Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra has done better at the Indian box office than popular films like Coolie and War 2. It has received much praise and comparisons to grand productions like Kalki 2898 AD and Brahmastra.
Mollywood’s first superheroine film, Lokah, hit theaters on August 28. Dominic Arun directed it, and Dulquer Salmaan produced it under the Wayfarer Films banner.
Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra Box Office Openings
The film opened on Thursday with Rs 2.7 crore. It saw a 40 % jump on Friday to Rs 3.75 crore. This passed War 2’s low Rs 65 lakh and Coolie’s Rs 1.75 crore for the same day. The movie had earned about Rs 6.45 crore nationwide by the end of its first weekend. If the trend continues, it is expected to make Rs 15 crore.
Rajinikanth and Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Coolie led the Indian box office, cross Rs 65 crore on its first day (August 14). It cross Rs 250 crore in its first 11 days. In contrast, Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR’s War 2 fell significantly behind Coolie, bringing in about Rs 231 crore by the eighth day compared to Coolie’s Rs 261 crore earnings.
Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam Clash
Even Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam only earned Rs 2.70 crore on Friday, which was less than Lokah. The only Bollywood movie that outperformed Lokah Chapter 1 Chandra with a Friday total over Rs 7 crore was Param Sundari, that released on a much larger scale.
