Rajkummar Rao is busy with his new film, Maalik that release in theatres this weekend. The film, directed by Pulkit, sees the actor as a gangster, with quite a break from his regular small-city boy photograph. This film is expecting to make a robust opening as per early trends.
Maalik advance booking of 6500 tickets
The makers of Maalik opened develop bookings for the film on Wednesday afternoon, an afternoon and a half before the release. But by Thursday night, the movie was crawling on the ticket window. It offered the most effective 6,500 tickets in the 3 national cinema chains—PVR, Inox, and Cinepolis. Even with some growth in sales overnight, the advance booking for Maalik remained dismal, not portraying a pretty picture for the Rajkummar Rao film.
Box office prediction
The booking numbers show that Maalik will not get the huge opening that Rajkummar Rao may also have been hoping for. The film is looking at a ₹3-4 crore starting. And these are pretty optimistic estimates. More conservative estimates placed the movie’s opening day haul at under ₹2 crore. Either way, the film is nowhere near the mid-budget mass action film – Sunny Deol’s Jaat. Even Rajkummar’s previous launch, the time loop comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf – opened at ₹7.2 crore. Maalik might not even manage half of both films’ box office.
