Make in Odisha Conclave 2025: PM Modi calls India the biggest global venue for live concerts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is said to have remarked at the Make in Odisha Conclave 2025 in Bhubaneswar that India is now the biggest potential global venue for live concerts with the record-breaking success of Coldplay’s recent performances.

After Coldplay’s success, Modi claims India as potential global venue for live concerts

British group stunned the crowd with five sensational concerts, all of which were held in three cities of Mumbai and two of Ahmedabad, and set a new milestone with their performance in Ahmedabad, which garnered an unprecedented number of 1,34,000 attendees and now stands as the country’s largest-ticketed concert in India.

This speaks to the grand scale that exists in India regarding live concerts,” PM Modi pointed out, indicating the high intensity of audience attraction towards Coldplay’s concerts. “More artists are being attracted from various parts of the world towards this country. Along with providing masses of entertainment, this also opens many employment opportunities for thousands and directly increases tourism of significant stature.

PM Modi also called for both the state governments and private companies to invest in infrastructure, which will create a ‘concert economy’ for India. Ranging from world-class venues to efficient event management and security protocol, he has laid down a platform to support the ecosystem for large entertainment events.

Whether it’s managing events, grooming artists, or security, the concert economy is unlocking new opportunities. The investment in infrastructure and skill building will make India a magnet to global artists and audiences,” he said during the WAVES Summit: Showcasing India’s Creative Might.

In the future, PM Modi mentioned that India will host the first-ever World Audio Visual Entertainment Summit (WAVES) next month. This global event will focus on India’s creative capabilities while further strengthening its position as a rising cultural and entertainment hub.

“WAVES will not only highlight India’s creative power but also generate significant revenue for states and elevate India’s global standing in the entertainment sector,” PM Modi said.

India Becoming a New Concert Destination

Coldplay’s record-breaking concerts speak volumes about the growing stature of India on the global entertainment landscape. Apart from the music, these concerts contribute to economic activity, generating a ripple effect in tourism, hospitality, and ancillary industries.

With India hosting WAVES and other investments in cultural infrastructure, it’s quite clear that the nation is getting ready to make a place for itself as the first choice destination for international live events.
