Netflix has removed the teaser for its upcoming crime thriller, Ghooskhor Pandat, featuring Manoj Bajpayee in the lead role. A segment of a religious community expressed dissatisfaction. He claims that the title is offensive and damaging to their dignity and reputation.
In response, the makers decided to take down the announcement promo. Reacting to Neeraj Pandey’s statement as writer and producer, Manoj shared a note on X, stating that he respects the audience’s feelings. In his tweet, Bajpayee made it clear that the film’s title never meant to reflect any community.

Sharing Neeraj’s statement on X, Bajpayee said he understands the emotions and concerns people have expressed, and he takes all feedback seriously. “When something you are part of causes hurt to some people, it makes you pause and listen,” he added. The actor further explained that his interest in a film lies in the character and story.
He described his character in GhooskhorPandat as flawed. He mentioned that the film focuses on his journey of self-discovery, not as a comment on any community. Praising Neeraj’s approach to filmmaking. He concluded that the decision to remove the promotional material shows how seriously they take these concerns.
Why did it encounter issues?
The teaser for Ghooskhor Pandat faced problems after a petition filed in the Delhi High Court. The petition argued that the title and promotional material suggest a link between the term ‘Pandat’ (or Pandit) and corruption and bribery.
Advocate Vineet Jindal requested a halt to the film’s release on Netflix, as the petitioner objected to the content, which they claimed is offensive and damaging to the reputation of the Brahmin community.
