As a result of his and Zakir Hussain’s Shakti band Shakti winning the Best Global Music Album award at the Grammy awards 2024, Shankar Mahadevan expressed his gratitude with a heartfelt note. He said that he can now say that dreams do come true at this moment.

For its album This Moment, the group, which also includes guitarist John McLaughlin, tabla maestro Zakir Hussain, violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan and percussionist Selvaganesh Vinayakram, won the award.

On Instagram, Mahadevan shared a series of pictures from Grammy 2024, saying he never imagined that the band from which he learned his music would win one.

Additionally, he shared several photographs from the prestigious award ceremony.

Along with a picture showing him posing with a golden gramophone, he wrote: “WE DID IT.” I never imagined that a band from where I have learned my music and my musical aesthetics would be the band with whom I would eventually perform and win a Grammy. That is the moment from which dreams come true for me.

It’s truly ‘THIS MOMENT’! Thank you Almighty for making this happen!”

An inspiring speech was given by Mahadevan and Zakir’s band, which includes guitarist John McLaughlin, percussionist V Selvaganesh, and violinist Ganesh Rajagopalan.

“Thank you boys. Thank you God, family, and friends. India, we are proud of you.”

“Last but not least, I would like to dedicate this award to my wife, to whom every note in my music is dedicated.”

“We miss you John ji,” Mahadevan said in his Grammy acceptance speech. He had taken the stage alongside Rajagopalan and Selvaganesh.
