Silambarasan TR's 49th Film Titled 'Arasan' in Vada Chennai Universe

The long-awaited collaboration between Silambarasan and Vetri Maaran, previously known as STR 49, officially named ‘Arasan’. The film’s first look shows Silambarasan in a blood-soaked shirt, holding a machete and standing next to a cycle, with his face partly obscured, matching the recently released promo. Silambarasan shared the poster on social media with the caption:

The film is currently in production and takes place in the Vada Chennai universe, though Dhanush’s character Anbu will not be in film.

Story and cast of ‘Arasan’

Director Vetri Maaran is reusing the screenplay he originally wrote for the 2018 Dhanush film, which was first meant for Silambarasan. This film is expected to feature notable cast members from Vada Chennai, including Andrea reprising her role as Chandra, Samuthirakani, and Kishore, along with newcomers Manikandan and Nelson Dilipkumar, although official confirmation still pending.

Netizens react to film title

It seems like Simbu fans are quite happy with the title ‘Arasan’. One fan commented, “It’s no more #STR49; IT’S “ARASAN.” Another wrote, “Good title … Please release this as a Pan Indian film, as it has great potential for success.”
