Suspect related to attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan arrested in Chhattisgarh's Durg district

On Saturday, a suspect linked to the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was arrested in Chhattisgarh’s Durg district. Chhattisgarh Railway Protection Force (RPF) was informed by the Mumbai Police of the details of the suspect, which resulted in his arrest on board the Gyaneshwari Express.

The suspect intercepted during a routine check of the train’s general compartment was later identified as 31-year-old Aakash Kailash Kannojia, an inhabitant of Mumbai. RPF officials confirmed Kannojia’s likeness to the provided photo by the Mumbai Police authorities, who were investigating the much-publicized attack case on Saif Ali Khan.

Mumbai Police Recieve Photograph of Suspect Who Attacked Saif Ali Khan

We received information from Mumbai Police along with the suspect’s photograph and his tower location. Based on this, our team apprehended the person. His identity was confirmed through a video call with the officials from Mumbai Police,” said Sanjeev Sinha, RPF in charge in Durg.

Kannojia reportedly claimed he was traveling to Bilaspur to visit a relative and resides in Mumbai’s Colaba area. However, he was found traveling without a ticket. A Mumbai Police team is en route to Durg to interrogate him further and take him into custody.

Saif Ali Khan was attacked earlier this week when an intruder attempted to burglarize his Bandra residence. The 54-year-old actor suffered several stab wounds on his neck and spine in an altercation with the intruder. He was taken to Lilavati Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery and is recovering.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police are still on the lookout for the attacker. CCTV footage shows the alleged attacker buying headphones from a shop in Dadar shortly after the incident, suggesting he may have used the city’s train network to evade capture.

Khan’s wife, actress Kareena Kapoor Khan, said that the intruder became aggressive during the scuffle but did not steal any valuables.
