The Trial Season 2 Review: Kajol legal battle drama come out of courtroom

When ‘The Trial Season 1’ first premiered, it drew interest. This was not only due to Kajol web series debut but also because it was an Indian version of the praised American show ‘The Good Wife’.

Kajol web series power packed with drama and energy

The first season had highlights. It explored a crumbling marriage, shifting power dynamics, and a woman working to regain her self-worth. While it wasn’t flawless, it had energy.

‘The Trial Season 2’ picks up where the first season left off. Noyonika Sengupta (Kajol) is caught in personal and professional turmoil. Her marriage to Rajeev (Jisshu Sengupta) is still strained. Their younger daughter has a severe panic attack after witnessing their argument, and her friend and colleague, Vishal (Alyy Khan), is still waiting for a response to his love confession. On paper, it promises intense drama. On screen, it often falls short.

Cast and story of The Trial Season 2

The series of Kajol jumps ahead three months. We see them again at a high-profile lawyers’ gathering. Rajeev, now pursuing a political career, wants to share the spotlight with Noyonika, much to her displeasure. Viewers also meet the charming, ambitious Param Munjal (Karanvir Sharma), the new partner at Khanna & Chaubey, who is ready to stir things up.

Another new character is Sonali Kulkarni as Narayani Bhole, a sharp-tongued politician and the event’s chief guest. From the start, her dislike for Rajeev is clear, and she does not hide it.

The season follows Noyonika as she handles a mix of emotionally charged and politically sensitive cases. A girl comes to her firm accusing a well-known social worker of sexual assault. Initially doubtful, Noyonika eventually changes her mind. However, the legal battle never quite reaches a dramatic peak.
