Pakistani PM wishes Happy Diwali to the Hindu community, saying he was proud of Pakistan’s rich cultural diversity. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sent greetings on Thursday, with an emphasis on Pakistan’s inclusive identity. His message cited the role of the Hindu community in shaping progress toward the nation.

In a poignant message, PM Sharif reminded that Pakistan was for equality; he reminded the state is working for the unison of all faiths. “As Pakistanis, we stand proud of our diversity, as it makes our national identity all the stronger,” he claimed. Pakistani PM wishes on Happy Diwali this unison, especially because the country is currently plagued by issues that are creating problems for the minorities. Last year witnessed some violent incidents targeting Christian localities and concerns over forceful conversions in Sindh, leaving a question mark over the religious tolerance of the nation.

He also tweeted that:

Sharif’s message for Diwali is evidence that Pakistan does indeed focus on resilience and inclusion. He talked about the importance of the Hindu community’s contribution to Pakistan in social, economic, and political terms, part of what built the nation. The Prime Minister of Pakistan wished his people Happy Diwali, as a gesture to strengthen their bonds together, and give them hope for a bright future united.

Pakistani PM wishes Happy Diwali remembering Jinnah’s message

This is from the vision of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, founder of the nation, when he spoke in his famous address in 1947 that religion should not be taken as an issue but there must be equal rights for citizens, and peace and brotherhood should guide growth in Pakistan.

PM Sharif ended his speech by sending wishes for the Festival of Lights. He wished for this time to bring about happiness and prosperity for all celebrating. He added, “May this Diwali bring unity and brotherhood across Pakistan and strengthen relations among people from all religions.” The Pakistani PM extends Happy Diwali with a promise from his government to make Pakistan a nation that celebrates diversity and treats every citizen with dignity.
