UP Deputy Commissioner of GST Department in the Ayodhya Division, Prashant Kumar Singh resigns from his position. He said his decision was to support CM Adityanath amid the ongoing issue involving Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati.
His resignation follows allegations from Swami Avimukteshwaranand that his followers were stopped from taking a holy dip at the Sangam Nose during Mauni Amavasya. He also claimed that his disciples were physically assaulted by the administration during this incident.

The administration has denied these allegations. They said Swami Avimukteshwaranand was trying to approach the Sangam Nose on a chariot, which was not allowed due to the large crowd and the risk of a stampede at the event.
Officials reported that his supporters tried to break through barricades and caused some damage. The police intervened and instructed them to return and proceed on foot instead of using a chariot.
Why Deputy Commissioner is disturbed?
In light of the escalating situation, Prashant Kumar Singh sent his resignation directly to the Governor. The two-page letter expressed his support for CM Adityanath and PM Modi. In his letter, Singh mentioned that he felt hurt by the derogatory remarks supposedly made by Shankaracharya against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

He emphasized his support for the government, the Chief Minister, the Prime Minister, and the Constitution. He expressed that he was disturbed by the unrestrained statements made by Swami Avimukteshwaranand.
