CM Siddaramaiah presented the Karnataka Budget 2026 on Friday. He focused on various development projects and new initiatives to support the state’s overall growth. During his speech, the Chief Minister announced the enactment of the Rohith Vemula Act. This law prevent caste-based crimes against students in all government, private, and deemed universities. It is named after Rohith Vemula.
Karnataka Budget 2026 passed for Second Airport in Bangalore
Siddaramaiah also announced plans for a 450-bed multi-speciality hospital in Karwar, which will cost ₹198 crore. A trauma care center in Raichur built for ₹10 crore. Additionally, Peripheral Cancer Centres established in Mysuru and Tumakuru for ₹92 crore.
The state government has already allocated ₹1,593 crore for the development of seven domestic airports in Karnataka, with ₹200crore set aside for this year.
Health and infrastructure projects includes
- A 450-bed multi-speciality hospital in Karwar for ₹198 crore.
- A trauma care center in Raichur for ₹10 crore.
- Peripheral Cancer Centres in Mysuru and Tumakuru for ₹92 crore.
- A second airport in Bengaluru to relieve congestion at Kempegowda International Airport, which is the third-busiest airport in India. A feasibility report created after consulting with the Airports Authority of India.
- ₹1,593 crore for the development of seven domestic airports, with ₹200 crore planned for this year.
- Aircraft manufacturing and assembly done in partnership with private firms at Shivamogga airport.
