Vodafone Idea Ltd. (Vi) is going to the Supreme Court of India today to challenge a new adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues notice for ₹5,606 crore. This notice was sent by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) for the year 2016-17.
Supreme court hearing on Vodafone
A Bench led by Chief Justice B. R. Gavai and Justices K. Vinod Chandran and Vipul M. Pancholi will review Vi’s petition. The petition claims that the DoT violated its order from 1 February 2020 when sending the notice.
The company has also said that it wants the DoT’s order to be canceled. They want the regulator to reassess and reconcile all AGR dues up to FY 2016-17, following the “Deduction Verification Guidelines” from 3 February 2020.
Vi believes that the Demand Notice is flawed and should be completely dismissed because of issues like calculation errors and duplicate entries.
