Bharti Airtel, a prominent Indian telecommunication provider, has today announced revised Airtel Prepaid Voice only and Prepaid SMS only plans as per the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India’s (TRAI) updated direction. These changes reflect a focus on providing affordable, basic service packs for users with specific needs.
Although Airtel has not yet launched totally new plans, Airtel’s old ones have been redesigned in accordance with the new regulatory norms.
Key Bharti Airtel Prepaid Voice SMS Plans Details
The ₹509 prepaid plan has been modified to the exclusive benefit of Voice SMS users. And it is now providing unlimited voice calls and 900 SMS messages with a validity of 84 days. Moreover, subscribers are entitled to free use of the Airtel Xstream App, Apollo 24/7 Circle membership, and free Hello Tunes. The effective monthly cost is around ₹170.
Previously, this plan included 6GB of data, but the data component has been removed to focus on Voice and SMS services. This change is evident on the www.airtel.com of Airtel, demonstrating such company’s engagement to answer the demand for simpler plans from the customers.

People who are looking for a subscription are now also made available Airtels ₹1,999 plan (yearly pre-paid plan) with a change. And now it includes unlimited voice calls and 3,600 SMS messages with a validity of 365 days. Like the ₹509 plan, it comes with benefits such as access to the Airtel Xstream App, membership to Apollo 24/7 Circle, and Hello Tunes. The effective monthly cost comes down to approximately ₹153. Interestingly, the previous 24GB that came with this plan has been deleted.
These updates are for those users mainly interested in the basic Voice and SMS services. These changes are most advantageous in the case of 2G mobile phone users and dual mobile phone card owners who usually pay for data that they do not use.
