Is a 5-year-old to be blamed? Private school principal suspended a nursery student for bringing non-vegetarian food

Is a 5-year-old to be blamed? Private school principal suspended a nursery student for bringing non-vegetarian food

In a strange incident, Amroha’s private school principal has suspended a nursery student for bringing non-vegetarian food to school and allegedly trying to “convert” his classmates to Islam. The viral controversial act of the principal came in total contradiction with what the very fundamentals of education mean: unity, tolerance, and understanding of diversity.

The mother of the child refuted the principal’s charges, citing that her son is too young to know about these issues. The excessive decision on the part of the principal even included removing the child’s name from the school register.

The principal, who has suspended a nursery student for bringing non-vegetarian food was quoted as saying: “We don’t want to teach children with such morals, who will demolish our temples and bring non-veg food to school,”

“We can’t educate kids who break our temples, harm Hindus, talk about converting all Hindus, and destroy Ram Mandir.”

Education is for all but a private school principal suspended a nursery student for bringing non-vegetarian food

Such an incident raises public fury. The overall authority, along with the District Inspector of Schools, has started an investigation into this matter. This incident once again calls for schools to create an atmosphere wherein every child can obtain education without any bias or prejudice whatsoever.

Schools are supposed to be places where children are taught to accept the difference, not get divided because of it.
A child of 4 or 5 years old can hardly be held responsible for such complex issues. At that tender age, innocence is the hallmark of any child, who is incapable of fathoming the various dimensions of religious or political discourses. It should be all-inclusive in education and not biased to religious or racial discrimination; it should build a peaceful society.
