A senior producer with NDTV was chased by two men early Friday while driving home from her office in Sector 129, Noida. She had left the office in her own car and was heading to her home in Vasant Kunj, Delhi, when the incident occurred.
The police have arrested both men. Deepak and Shubham, who live in Dabri, Delhi, have multiple criminal cases against them. They work as bartenders and were allegedly drunk when they harassed and attacked the journalist.
What Happened with NDTV Journalist?
The journalist reported that as she was driving her Ford Figo on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, the men on a scooter began following her. “They tried to stop me. Initially, I ignored them, but then I noticed they were trying to block my car. The men signaled for me to stop, but I kept driving. I took out my phone and started recording them to scare them off,” she stated.
She mentioned that as she slowed down due to traffic, Shubham, riding pillion, jumped off the scooter and slammed his hand on her car’s windscreen. He then approached her side and tried to open the locked door.
Taxi Drivers Come To The Rescue
After reaching the Ashram area, she called the police and provided her location. When she got to Lajpat Nagar, she spotted a group of taxi drivers who quickly recognized that she needed help. “I asked the cab drivers for help, and they told me to pull my car to the side.
I parked at the Gupta market in Lajpat Nagar, and the two men on the scooter had disappeared,” she added. The police arrived, took her statement, and instructed her to file a First Information Report (FIR).
