Sabarkantha flood rescue operation was conducted on Sunday after a couple was mopped away while crossing an overflowing causeway in the district of Gujarat. The duo, stranded atop the car, somewhat doused in water. They kept waiting for rescue for almost two hours when the strong current swept them away.
The incident took place in Idar town where heavy rainfall had caused treacherous flooding of the Karol River. According to fire officer Kamal Patel, strong breezes thwarted the Sabarkantha flood rescue operation. However, the couple was rescued after the levels of water were reduced.
The incident swept their car some 1.5 kilometres away from the causeway and dunked it in water. Its roof was the only seeable part above the swirling floodwaters. The couple, Suresh Mistry and his wife, climbed onto the roof of the car to wait for aid. As this surprising Sabarkantha flood rescue operation flared, the masses began to build up on the riverbank, eyeing and shooting videos of the scene.
