Scotland to offer Multi-million-pound scholarship of £5,000 to Indian Postgraduate Students

The University of Glasgow has announced a new multi-million-pound scholarship scheme for Indian postgraduate students.

Highly qualified students will be awarded a £5,000 discount fee to study in Scotland, at one of the top 100 universities in the world.

Students demonstrating academic excellence – equivalent to UK 1st Class Honours in their degree – will be eligible for the funding.

Eligibility Criteria for students to avail £5,000 multi-million-pound scholarship

  • demonstrate academic excellence and achieve grades equivalent to UK 1st Class Honours
  • hold an offer for an eligible postgraduate taught programme for September 2024 intake
  • be domiciled in India
  • have international fee status

University of Glasgow Deputy Vice Chancellor, Rachel Sandison, said: “The University of Glasgow has very close ties with India, and we are proud of the partnerships and relationships we have developed over many years.

The University of Glasgow has been changing the world since 1451. It is placed 76th in the QS World University Rankings 2024 and is a member of the prestigious Russell Group of leading UK research universities.

Glasgow’s New Scholarship Scheme

The new scholarship scheme is part of wider University of Glasgow efforts to encourage applications for programmes from diverse global regions. Last year, the University’s prestigious Adam Smith Business School launched a programme to assist Indian students to study at Masters level.

The scheme, which comprises of 10 awards of £10,000 for high quality students, was launched at the British Council New Delhi in December.

Director of Learning and Teaching for the Adam Smith Business School, Dr Anthony Devine, said: “The new scholarship programme demonstrates the Adam Smith Business School’s commitment to India and ensures students can access our world-class education. We’re very much looking forward to receiving applications for the scholarship and reading the inspiring stories of our potential students.”
