HiBox Fraud: Elvish Yadav and Bharti Singh summoned for cheating 30,000 people for 500 crores

Popular YouTuber Elvish Yadav and comedian Bharti Singh have been summoned for the alleged scam of an application called HIBOX. The application HIBOX had attracted more than 30,000 investors with a promise of high return. The application decided to stop its operational work, and the users underwent huge financial loss. As reported, the fraud was worth ₹500 crores. Investors were promised daily returns between 1% and 5%. Payments have stopped cold in July, leading to complaints. Over 500 complaints have been lodged against this app. A full-scale police investigation into the matter is on.

Delhi Police’s IFSO unit is probing the case. The prime accused is employee of Sutrulla Express Private Limited, a director, J. Sivaraman. Elvish Yadav and Bharti Singh are suspected to have aggressively promoted the app. Both the celebrities have been called by Delhi Police for interrogation. They misled the people to invest into the app by promoting it. Because of the involvement of such high profile personalities involved in the case, media coverage is huge.

Notably, it was promised as easy money with quick returns. Hundreds of thousand investors came to the app after the social media influence of Yadav and Singh attracted a following of 30,000 people, and then the app collapsed. Both Elvish Yadav and Bharti Singh have been summoned for their alleged role in the scam. These cases are being considered one of the biggest of the year frauds in India.

Also, scam victims are still urging the authorities to take action against the culprits. This scam has sparked widespread outrage among the investors. Many believe that these celebrities gave the app false credit through endorsement. In answering their question, investigators are getting their answer in terms of how much both celebrities were benefited by the scam.

Notably, this is the second case Bharti Singh faces after a previous legal case in 2020. Bharti Singh, along with her husband, was taken into custody for possessing cannabis in 2020. The duo was granted bail, however, the NCB found 86.5 grams of cannabis in their house.

The HIBOX case enumerates the risks posed by influencer-peddled financial scams. As a consequence, both celebrities will face legal consequences if they are proved to be guilty of their implicated offense. Outcomes of the inquiry will result in severe legal and professional repercussions against Yadav and Singh.
