Burj Khalifa does not have Sewage System, Relies on Daily Poo Trucks

Burj Khalifa does not have Sewage System

You will be surprised to know that world’s tallest building Burj Khalifa does not have a Sewage System, relies on daily poo trucks. Shocking???

Dubai is known for its developed infrastructure and its tall skyscrapers. The biggest skyscraper of Dubai is the Burj Khalifa which is known as the tallest building in the whole world. The Burj Khalifa is standing at 830 meters which is the largest for any building. Along with its height Burj Khalifa infrastructure is equally good as it is made from glass and everything inside it is luxury.

The building has 163 floors. It is a mix of offices, homes, and a hotel. The views from the top are amazing. There are two observation decks. The building is known for its unique design and it looks like a desert flower. At night, the Burj Khalifa lights up with beautiful displays. The tower is a symbol of Dubai’s growth and ambition.

However, there is one significant con of living in Burj Khalifa that it doesn’t have a developed sewage system even when its infrastructure is the most developed. The Burj Khalifa is not connected to the city’s wastewater system therefore it uses different methods that are creative to treat the waste on a regular basis.

In Burj Khalifa, the poop from the building is collected through a poo truck and sent outside the city. Therefore, everyday countless poo trucks come to the Burj Khalifa, their workers collect the poo and then load it onto the poo trucks. After that this poo is then transported out of the city of Dubai where it is treated and throwed.

Why Burj Khalifa does not have Sewage System?

It’s surprising that such a costly skyscraper doesn’t have its own waste removal system. But the Burj Khalifa isn’t the only one with this setup. When it was built, Dubai was still feeling the effects of the 2008 credit crunch. Adding the building to the city’s sewer system was seen as an unnecessary expense. The developers thought that trucking out the waste daily would be cheaper in the short term.

However, with up to 35,000 residents, the building can produce up to 15 tonnes of sewage each day. Therefore, this is equally costly as the labor hired for this job who drive the trucks and the ones who take out the poo which take high wages. Moreover, this also includes fuel cost as a lot of trucks are used per day and they are sent outside Dubai which makes it very expensive altogether.
