At least 12 people including the children were killed when rockets hit a village in Israeli-controlled Golan Heights on Saturday. Israeli officials reported the attack, which they blamed on the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah. Israel said about 30 projectiles crossed from Lebanon into Israel territory. They described this as the deadliest attack since October 7. Hezbollah denied firing the rockets. Risk of Escalation
The Hezbollah terror attack on Israel risks escalating the situation at the border. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Hezbollah will “pay a heavy price.” Israel and Hezbollah have been trading fire for almost 10 months. Regional leaders had already warned that the conflict was reaching a boiling point.
In the village of Majdal Shams, at least 29 people were injured due to the Hezbollah terror attack on Israel. The village is home to a large Druze community. The Hezbollah terror attack on Israel hit a soccer field where children and teenagers were playing. The rocket killed 12 young boys and girls according to an IDF spokesperson.

Israeli Response
Netanyahu cut short his visit to the United States and returned to Israel. He convened a security cabinet meeting and promised that Israel will not be silent about this Hezbollah terror attack on Israel. Defense Minister Yoav Gallant spoke with the Druze community’s spiritual leader and assured that the military would respond.
Residents of Majdal Shams are devastated. Adeeb Safadi, a local resident, said those killed were all Druze children from local villages. Another eyewitness Taymor Wili described the scene as a dark day for the town.

Emergency Services
Israel’s Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency service reported the fatalities included teenagers and young adults. Ziv Medical Center in Safed received 26 injured people due to this Hezbollah terror attack on Israel. Police are securing the area and searching for additional remnants to eliminate any further risk.
The White House condemned the attack and reiterated support for Israel. EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell called for an independent international investigation. He told all parties to exercise restraint and avoid further escalation.
