There was a recent medical screening of the prisoners as a part of the regular routine which is done to ensure the health of the prisoners in Delhi’s Tihar jail in which 125 prisoners in Delhi’s Tihar Jail have been found HIV positive. This alarming Tihar Jail HIV positive cases discovery has raised concerns about the health and safety of inmates. The screening was part of a routine health check for the prison’s population.
125 Prisoners found HIV Positive in Tihar Jail
Alongside the Tihar jail HIV positive cases, 200 prisoners have been diagnosed with syphilis. This sexually transmitted infection poses serious health risks if left untreated. The jail authorities are now focusing on providing proper medical care to those affected and ensuring to treat these diseases without letting the prisoners leave the prison cell.
The medical screening covered about 10,500 prisoners out of the approximately 14,000 inmates in Tihar Jail. The screening was done in order to check any health issue or disease among the prisoners in order to ensure that the prisoners are healthy and safe inside the jail. So far no cases of tuberculosis have been reported, which is a relief given the overcrowded conditions of the jail.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is also lodged in Tihar Jail. He is safe and has not been affected by any of these diseases. The jail authorities have ensured that his health is being monitored closely. However, the Indian people and the fans of Arvind Kejriwal are very concerned about his health in the jail of Tihar and are questioning his survival.
A person said on X that “Sitting Delhi CM is jailed in such conditions with hardcore criminals and Indian courts & CJI are mute spectators. Who will be responsible if something happened to CM & he is proven innocent in the alleged crime?”
