AAP Alleges Attack on Kejriwal's Convoy Amid Tense Campaign in New Delhi Constituency

AAP today said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s convoy was attacked during a door-to-door campaign in the New Delhi Assembly constituency ahead of the February 5 elections. The supporters of the Bharatiya Janata Party, AAP claimed, tried to scuttle the campaign by hurling a stone at Kejriwal’s car. The incident throws light on rising tensions in a high-stakes race for the New Delhi constituency.

AAP posted a video on social media showing a stone allegedly hitting Kejriwal’s vehicle accompanied by footage of people waving black flags. The party termed it a deliberate effort by BJP to intimidate their leader. “BJP candidate Parvesh Verma’s goons attacked Arvind Kejriwal with stones during his campaign. These cowardly acts won’t deter him or the people of Delhi,” AAP stated in a post on X along with the video.

Senior AAP leader Manish Sisodia was categorical in condemning the incident. “BJP, being fearful of defeat in elections, is now resorting to violence. However, people of Delhi will reply with their votes to such acts of cowardice,” he remarked.

Kejriwal’s Convoy Attacked Ahead of New Delhi Constituency, BJP Opens Up

In a counterclaim, BJP MP and New Delhi candidate Parvesh Verma accused Kejriwal’s convoy of running over two people during the campaign. Verma shared a video on X in which he claimed that the injured were taken to Lady Hardinge Hospital. “Seeing defeat, Kejriwal’s convoy disregarded the value of human life,” Verma alleged.

Delhi Police refuted the claim of an attack on Kejriwal’s convoy. According to a police source, “There was no attack. It was sloganeering from both sides and police soon stepped in to disperse the crowd.”

New Delhi constituency is witnessing an all-time political tussle with the fight between BJP candidate Parvesh Verma and Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit for Kejriwal. This election scheduled for February 5 promises to be one of the closely watched ones.
