Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently tossed a strident attack on Congress and Rahul Gandhi, for politics over social divisions. He underlined the fact that Congress never talks about the Muslim caste. He took a dig at the party’s focus on Hindu castes to create divisions within Hindu society. In the midst of the debate going on over caste census, it is in this context that Modi pointed out how Congress addressed issues on caste differently while ignoring the Muslim castes.
Modi accuses Rahul Gandhi of perpetuating a divisional strategy saying that Congress never talks about the Muslim caste as part of their broader agenda to spread hate and garner a vote bank. This is the ground of his argument that the “tactics of the Congress revolve around instigating conflict among Hindus so that they benefit in elections.” “The Congress party thrives on communal and casteist lines for political success,” according to Modi. And this is not merely irresponsible; he thinks it is basically destructive to the fabric of society.
The party is never interested in discussing the Muslim caste, he said, because it would upset their political strategy. Congress sows fear and intimidation to get Muslim votes and creates a rift among Hindus, Modi charged. The statement reads:
“The culture of ‘Sarvajan Hitaye – Sarvajan Sukhaye’ is being thrown overboard by Congress for its divisive politics,” he said.
Why Congress never talks about the Muslim caste? Explains Modi
Reiterating that Congress wants to have conflict within Hindu society, Modi said that Congress never speaks about Muslim caste to shift the focus away from its failure to integrate various communities. He further said that this has been the party’s strategy for a long time and it also enabled them to win power due to this division. The Prime Minister concluded by stating,
“BJP’s triumph in Haryana is a declaration of the people about the rejection of Congress electoral tactics and growing dissatisfaction with its divide-and-rule policies in the country.”.
