On December 15, 2024, the much-anticipated cabinet expansion of Maharashtra’s new government took place in Nagpur. The ceremony served the purpose of inducting the 39 MLAs in the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis’ government. This presentation involved 33 ministers of state and 6 ministers of state (Junior ministers). Swearing-in takes place one day before the state legislative Winter Session is to begin on December 16.
A total of 19 ministers including the BJP state president Chandrashekhar Bawankule headed the Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers List 2024 of the BJP. Shiv Sena, headed by Eknath Shinde, took 11 seats, while Ajit Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) occupies 9 seats. Among the ministers of state, the BJP claimed 3 posts, Shiv Sena got 2, and the NCP managed 1.
The list of Maharashtra Cabinet Ministers 2024 reflects the power-sharing arrangements within the Mahayuti-led coalition. Earlier, the BJP, Shiv Sena, and NCP had also difficulty in the distribution of portfolios. Home Ministry, a controversial topic, will be with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.
The Maharashtra Assembly elections 2024 resulted in a decisive victory for the Mahayuti alliance which won 230 seats out of 288. BJP won 132, Shiv Sena 52, and NCP 41. This clear prerogative gave rise to the comeback of Devendra Fadnavis as CM with Deputy CMs Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar.
